Content Makes the Web Go Round…But I Suck At Writing!

Content is kingContent. Content. And more content (See Why Content Is Crucial).

Good quality content can contribute to the success of a blog. There’s a reason for that and we’re going to discuss how the written word can make you money in a little bit.

I want to make it clear that YOU don’t necessarily have to be the one doing all that writing, however. If you are not genetically predisposed to writing, then you will enjoy the content of this post.

Have I got your attention yet?

I want to let you in on a little secret.
While those blog posts are necessary in order for you to be a successful blogger, they do NOT all have to be written by you.

Let me explain by giving you some ways to make money and keep your blog fresh without wearing yourself out or giving yourself Carpal Tunnel Syndrome before you even get started bringing in the dough.

The bottom line here is that content must happen, and there are a number of ways you can acquire it even if you suffer from permanent writer’s block. So let’s get started. Here are several content acquisition strategies you can begin using today:

Strategy 1 – Hit The Article Directories

Article directories contain databases of articles that authors have submitted content to. Writers are compelled to submit to the directories because their content gets spread around the internet by content-hungry publishers who decide to them. It’s like this. If you write an article and submit it, basically the world now has access to it. Website owners and bloggers scan the directories for valuable, relevant, and fresh content to post to their blogs, and the writer gets the credit as the source. Many article directories are also indexed quite regularly by the search engines, so it’s possible for a writer to “leverage” the authority of the directory to help drive organic search traffic back to their own websites. It is possible to find articles on just about anything imaginable, and if it doesn’t exist yet, well that’s an opportunity that leads nicely into the next content strategy.

When using content from the article directories, be sure to always include the author’s resource box, which normally contains information about the author and a link to their website, when you publish it on your own site. They are great sources of information, but read the articles very carefully to be sure you are getting the content you want for your website. You wouldn’t want to place incorrect information on your blog and mislead your readers after all.

Here’s a list of some of my favorite article directories:

  • Ezinearticles.com
  • Goarticles.com
  • Articledashboard.com
  • Articlesbase.com
  • Articler.com
  • A1Articles.com
  • ArticleAlley.com
  • ArticleClick.com
  • ContentDig.com

Well that should get you started. Let’s summarize what you have learned AND accomplished so far:

  1. Learned a little about blogging and what it is
  2. Hooked up with a web hosting service
  3. Picked up your domain name
  4. Installed Wordpress, and
  5. Found some good content to start posting on your site

It wouldn’t be a bad idea for you to subscribe to my blog (if you haven’t already) so you can stay up to date on any new stuff I add.

In my next post, we will talk about actually taking ownership of the content that you don’t write through outsourcing. Hiring writers can be an excellent way to generate content, even your own products. Best part is you own it once it’s done. You submit it to the directories and get to take credit for it when others use your stuff. Pretty cool.

Until next time.

I really appreciate that you keep coming back to my site, it's loyal people like you that make what I do worth it. If you have any questions feel free to email me. Oh and since you obviously like our site it'd be great if you could share it with a friend... They'll love you for it!
